Thomson West Acquires Aspatore Books

BOSTON – August 15, 2007

Thomson West, the leading provider of information and solutions to legal, regulatory and compliance professionals, has acquired Aspatore Books. West brings to Aspatore substantial resources that will enable it to further the development of content and to deliver that content more broadly and deeply into the legal and business markets.

This acquisition provides exciting possibilities to build on the considerable success Aspatore has already achieved and the reputation the company enjoys among the law firm and corporate leaders who rely on the expertise of its authors to shape their business decisions. While the essential mission of Aspatore Books will remain intact, its reach and ability to further develop that mission will increase.

Aspatore’s titles are a strategic fit with West’s product lines and will enrich the current West product line, allowing West to better serve its customers. Specifically, Aspatore products relating to securities law and mergers and acquisitions will enhance the Westlaw Business offering, GSI’s new platform for business law professionals. Aspatore titles also will enable West to produce publications with expert commentary on current cases and hot legal topics.

In addition, Aspatore’s content will be extended to enhance West’s existing Monitor product lines with analysis from the legal industry’s thought leaders.

Operations of Aspatore Books will remain in Boston.
